Looking Like My Daddy!

As I grew up, I often heard, “You must be one of those Reynolds kids!” People who have encountered my parents can often spot out their children. Why?  We look like our parents. We act like our parents and often we even talk like them. We have similar mannerisms and beliefs that display in our actions.  You cannot look at my face and not see the face of my Mother.  The older I get, the more I look like her and I don’t mind because she is a beautiful lady! I am honored when people tell me, “Girl, you look and act like Lit’ Honey (my Mom’s nickname).  I get excited who those who hear me speak say, “I heard your Daddies voice come out of you.”  Dad is a great orator and to be compared to him is a privilege.

Just as people can normally see your biological parents in you, they should be able to see your Heavenly Father in you.  When people encounter you, do they say, “You must be one of God’s kids?” Can His image or likeness be seen in you? Do you share His mannerisms, attitude, beliefs, and character?  Do people have to ask, “Who’s your Daddy?” This week, let’s do a little self-monitoring and pay attention to whether we are being a reflection of our Heavenly Father. Let’s not force people to have to guess about whom we belong to. Let’s be honored to reflect God. Let’s talk like Him. Let’s walk like Him. Let represent Him well in church, in our homes, on the job, in the malls (when that sales person refuses to give you the sales price J), in our schools, and everywhere we go.

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.  - Matthew 5:16 (Amplified) bug
