Ladies, we don’t need another drill sergeant approach, full of superficial, one-sided formulas to make us feel bad about ourselves. What we need is Freedom. I’m not advocating that we cut up our “Premium Diva” cards that come with all of the enhancement benefits, quite the contrary. We need to rid ourselves of the yo-yo thinking that has turned some of us into product junkies, constantly searching for, craving, and like drug addicts, fiending for the next “fix”. Let’s keep a healthy perspective. WE were never allowed to cast a deciding vote about our own beauty in the boardroom!
Far too often many of us, in the quest to become what society categorizes as fashionable or beautiful, think we live a life of a freedom, but we are actually living in bondage. We look forward to wearing clothes that are uncomfortable, overpriced, and unappealing; restricting us to freely express style from our own canvas because we have been cramming ourselves into the image of what “THEY” say is hot or not! What we need is a road map to get back on track, in the right direction and I look forward to being your guide. As we travel the road to true beauty, I have highlighted a few important stops along the way that we definitely need to visit. So grab a light lunch and remember to take some notes.
Identify
Where are you in your life? Are you on your way to college, a new mommy, in transition, or matured and seasoned in age? Wherever you are in your life will play a significant role in your being able to choose a look that best suits you. For instance, if you’re turning 50, you may want to tweak the fashion ideas given to you by your 16-year-old daughter, unless of course you’re feeling Forever 21. Most importantly, know your body! There are only a handful of women who can wear practically anything and get away with it. It’s important for you to have a realistic grasp on which silhouettes, textures, shapes and colors work best to compliment and flatter your figure.
Keep Up
Train your fashion senses to be able to identify what trend are current and what season we are in. Keep a keen eye on where we’re going. Window shop in the malls or check out what’s going on in beauty sections of your favorite magazines. But it doesn’t mean that all of those trends belong on your vanity, or in your closet. It’s your right and your prerogative to be selective. Stay in line with current trends but maintain a look that is classically YOU! Also don’t be afraid to add a personal touch to what you wear. In your own way, and with your own style, ride the wave of what’s hot and when it’s over let it go!
