As a marketing executive for more than 20 years, Davide has infused
both his unbridled creativity and his fearless leadership into numerous
marketing campaigns that have amassed revenues well over $300
million throughout his career. From apparel and footwear manufacturing,
consumer products and entertainment, to live, film and video productions
and photography, Davide is regarded as a creative genius among his piers.
Having begun his career as an entertainment and fitness
director at Club Med in the late 80’s, Davide traveled the world
creating large stage productions as well as managing physical fitness
activities for thousands of guests during his two year tour with the
company.
In 1987 a chance encounter with one of his guests at
Club Med prompted Davide to relocate to California to explore the fashion
and entertainment industries. It was there that he was thrust squarely
into the frenetic pace of the fashion manufacturing and branding industry
in downtown L.A. Always prepared to meet a challenge head-on, Davide
applied his knowledge of marketing (through a Bachelor’s of Business
Degree obtained at Western Connecticut State University) to the task
at hand and became the director of Marketing for Surf Fetish, Fetish
Blues - - a company grossing well over $15million per year.
While creating and governing the marketing efforts for
the company and simultaneously watching for fresh trends in the apparel
industry, Davide became acutely aware of a new demographic trend in the
marketplace. It was known as the Urban Hip-Hop movement in fashion;
a street culture, largely perpetuated by African-Americans in
the inner cities of the United States but with no significant fashion
offerings to address their demands. He approached the then owner of Surf
Fetish who subsequently broke away from the company with a lead designer
and the three men created Cross Colours Clothing. Cross Colours, known
as the preeminent Godfather of the Urban Fashion industry, amassed a
staggering $89million of revenues in just under two
years of operations. It was the dawn of a new era in fashion.
Throughout his career at Cross Colors Davide continually
created poignant, edgy, memorable and thought-provoking media campaigns.
While the company enjoyed global recognition as the premier urban clothing
collection in America - - with accolades gracing the pages of Elle,
Forbes, Sportswear International, WWD, Fortune, Black Enterprise and
other notable publications, Davide enjoyed notoriety for his significant
contribution as a cutting-edge marketing director to unprecedented growth
in the global apparel economy. Shortly thereafter companies such as Pepsi
Cola, Reebok, B.U.M. Equipment, Phat Farm and others sought
his expertise as a consultant.
In the early 90’s Davide ventured out on his own
to created Davide and Co. LLC, a company dedicated to
keeping his creativity sharply honed while helping medium and start-up
companies build their branding and marketing campaigns. Through this
process, Davide became a professional photographer, producer and director,
creating large scale productions for entities such as ESPN, MOTOWN
CAFÉ, STUDIO 54 - - LAS VEGAS, HOUSE OF BLUES - - LAS VEGAS, LA
BLACK BUSINESS EXPO, SHAQUILLE O’NEAL, PAULA ABDUL and
numerous others. From casual to couture, Davide productions had a signature
flair that made him one of the most sought-after creative minds in the
industry.
Currently on a path to write books, tour as a public
speaker, create film and multi-media productions, Davide continues to
seek grass roots opportunities to create world-class entities. He has
partnered with Motions Models realize yet another of his goals, to give
back to young people. When reminded that he seems to have done it all
in his career, Davide simply states that, “as a little boy
growing up in Jamaica, the only box that you can think outside of, is
the one you’ve created for yourself!”
